Books for Back Home

The Indo-Caribbean Canadian Association was proud to host our first-ever “Books for Back Home” – Spring Book Drive during April and May, 2022.
We recognized that many communities across the Caribbean may not have access to the resources needed to support education needs. The goals of this project included:

To connect with the community in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area to fundraise books;

To distribute the books that we collect in Guyana and Trinidad; and
-
To promote the importance of literacy across the Caribbean and in the diaspora.

The community was asked for generosity and consideration in supporting the “Books for Back Home” Spring Book Drive by:

Book Donations: Donate new and gently used books (with no markings, tears, or creases) to any of our drop-off locations [SEE BELOW]. These include books suitable for all ages as well as activity and colouring books for children. We kindly ask that you avoid donating textbooks or books that promote hate, racism, homophobia, or similar divisive content.

Monetary Donations: Contribute a monetary donation via GoFundMe. Contributions will go towards purchasing new books and the cost of shipping and distribution.
AND THEY DELIVERED! Over 2000 books were sent to the Caribbean.
Thank you to the several small businesses and organizations that hosted a drop off box during the drive.
